Jerry’s and his partner Ron’s newest venture has been making beer. Jerry and Ron have been making wine for many years.

J Pilar Winery was established in 2008 and was named in memory of Jerry’s mother-in-law. She was a big part of our lives, and is greatly missed. August 28, 1925 – February 19, 2004. We have been so blessed throughout the years meeting and working with so many wonderful people, and we thank everyone very much. When Jerry isn’t building (construction business) he is making wine and now beer.

Jamul Brewing Co was established in 2013  Jamul brewing Co is located in Jamul, we are also local Jamulian’s. Our beers are named after the history of our community. I have listed a little story about each name of our beers.

Jamul Handcrafted Beers brewed in Jamul

The Steel Bridge, was designed in 1928 and built in 1929.  It was one of the three state highway “truss” bridges in the county.  It is the only Parker Truss.  A parker truss has an arch with a triangular framework metal beams.  This particular bridge has three spans, each 150′ feet long making the bridge 460′ long.  This bridge is on the National Registry of Historic places.  7.8%

Mother Grundy Truck Trail, is a road heading east of state route 94 and out to Honey Springs rd. Honey springs road climbs thru the hills east of Jamul with aloft of twist and turns. This is a favorite area for cyclists, motorcycles and sport drivers. 5.9%. This beer is made with Madagascar Vanilla Bean.

Lyons Peak, is the highest point in Jamul, and our namesake pale-plus ale stands at the top of our list when we’re looking for a crisp, flavorful quaff that won’t take you out of the hike. 4.5%.

The Proctor Valley Monster, is Jamul Brewing Company’s tribute to our local urban legend. A big, bold Imperial IPA with notes of stone fruit, this beer is not for the timid. a 9.2% alc. by vol., malts and hops makes this a sneaky monster.

Peg Leg Mine Amber, is Jamul Brewing Company’s tribute to a mine of Mount McGinty that came to be known by some as Peg Leg Mine after Thomas “Peg Leg” Smith who was looking for gold. Peg Leg Mine Amber is a toasty maltenes balanced with cascade hops so as not too malty, and not too bitter; A San Diego style Amber Ale coming in at 5.0 ABV.

J Pilar/Jamul Brewing Co. does NOT have tasting rooms.
